Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme:
“Apun Ghar” is a new loan scheme of home for Assam Government Employees under which home loans will be offered for Government Employees of the state at subsidized (financial support) interest rates. The Government of Assam has agreed and signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the SBI (State Bank of India) to offer home loans at highly subsidized interest rates to its Government Employees.
Introduction of Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme:
Under this Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme, the government of state offers housing loans at 5% subsidized rate for its women government employees and at 5.5% for its men government employees. The loan would be offered without any processing fee and collateral security.
Image Source: sarkaridunia.inThe main objective of this scheme is to provide shelter and housing to all state government employees, though PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) is running currently in all the cities and towns of the state under which loans are provided at subsidized rates.
Under the Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme, the government employees of the state can avail up to Rs. 15 Lakh loan with an interest subsidy about 3.5%. The subsidy on the rates of interest would profit the state government employees in terms of lower EMI’s and lower interest rates.

Eligibility Criteria for Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme:
This Scheme is however decided to the government employees of the state who belongs to the group of lower income of the society but relevant and applicable for all. The employees of the government are eligible for the Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme who has
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Five years Residual Service
This Scheme would not profit those state employees who have less than five years in their service retirement.
The state employees who have already availed of home loan and education from the State Bank of India at normal rates would also be able to switch to the government subsidized loan scheme after 1 year or so.
The State Bank of India Loan Scheme to be raised in May 2017 will help the group of low income employees and low rank police employees. It would also help to generate various activities economically.
How to Apply for Apun Ghar Home Loan Scheme?
To apply for the Apun Ghar Home Loan, the employees of the state government need not visit the bank branch; they can simply submit their request or application forms to the respective district disbursing officer or drawing officer.

- 5 passport size photographs
- Any one of the below for identification:
- PAN Card
- Voter ID
- Identity Card, etc.
- Any of the below documents for residence proof:
- Electricity bill
- Landline telephone bill
- SBI Account Passbook with address updated
- Form 16 of previous 2 years
- Latest salary slip duly certified by DDO with all deductions
- Last 6 months statement of salary account
- If the Salary is not credited in SBI account, No dues salary from the bank
- Personal assets and liabilities in format of the bank
- Documents evidencing the land / building ownership to be constructed / purchased, such as copy of Jamabandi
The loan offered under Apun Ghar Scheme would be sanctioned in the name of the employee or spouse name of the employee.
All the arrangements have been done by the Assam Government and SBI to provide hassle free loans to its employees. The SBI has a target to offer around 10,000 home loans.
