Hriday scheme -Heritage city development and augmentation yojana
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, launched the National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana – HRIDAY scheme on 21st January, 2015, with a centre on holistic development of heritage cities. Hriday yojana cities aim to conserve and revitalise soul of the heritage city to reflect the city’s distinctive character by encouraging alluring, available, enlightening & secured environment.
With a period of 4 years (finishing in November, 2018) and a total outlay of INR 500 Crores, the Hriday heritage Scheme is being implemented in 12 identified Cities namely, twelve heritage cities, namely Hriday cities as follows:
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh)
Kanchipuram (Tamil nadu)
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh)
Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh)
The scheme is implemented in a mission mode.
The National Hriday Yojna generally focuses on four argument areas i.e. Physical Infrastructure, Institutional Infrastructure, Economic Infrastructure & Social Infrastructure for energizing and restorative the soul of Heritage City.
HRIDAY is a central govt. sector scheme, where 100% financial support will be provided by Government of India. The duration of this scheme is four years i.e. from December-2014 to March-2018.
