City Civil Court Bengaluru
Bengaluru is the capital of Karnataka State located on the Deccan plateau, southeast of the state. The City Civil Court Bengaluru established on November 17, 1980. It was inaugurated by the Honorable Mr. Judge YV Chandrachud, the President of the Supreme Court of India at that time, in the presence of the Honorable Judge DM Chandrashekar, the President of the Supreme Court of Karnataka, the Honorable Mr. Judge MN Venkatachaliah and Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri R. Gundurao.
Previously, the Courts in Bengaluru City were like Courts in any other District of Karnataka, which consisted of Munsiff Courts, Courts of Civil Judges and District Courts, but with the growth that the city had, they were falling short. For this reason, the civil courts of the city in Bengaluru created in the lines of civil courts of the city that then existed in Bombay and Ahmedabad.
The judicial officers appointed to study the existing system of municipal civil courts operating in several cities. After analyzing the merits and demerits of these systems, the High Court recommended the Government to establish the Civil Court of the city of Bengaluru.
