Finding good bid opportunities may be hard if you don’t know where to search. In British Columbia, there is a website that only dedicates to that and it is called BC Bid. Discover how to use it below.
What is BC Bid?
BC Bid is an online marketplace where public sector organizations advertise opportunities for contracts in an extensive range of services and goods in BC Province, Canada. These public sector organizations include cities, health authorities, school districts, Crown corporations, and the B.C. government.
The website is www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca, and you can explore it free without registration.
How do I use BC Bid?
Visit the website and then select the Browse option, there you have two main options to explore all the currently available opportunities. You can see all of them or you can see them by the organization. If you see them by the organization, a list with the opportunities classified by the organization will display and the number of tenders will appear in a column next to it.
You can also browse opportunities classified by product groupings, which are construction, hydroelectric and public works; goods; and services. If you select one of these options, a list with all the opportunities will display and you will see the document number, the organization name, the published date, and the closing date. If you select one from the list, a new window will open with all the details about the opportunity.
Lastly, you can browse using the Advanced Search option, where you will find all open or closed tenders, or you can narrow the search by entering a tender number, date range or other criteria.
BC Bid also has two paid subscription options available. The first one is the email subscription that costs $100 a year. With this subscription, you can create a profile and get notifications on your email. When you are on the website, you can browse opportunities customized by profile and download all documents, including those with a mandatory planholder list, which cannot be downloaded without a subscription. You can also get amendment notification and express interest, so you check a list with all those items later.
The other subscription option available is the Ebid subscription, which costs $150 a year. This subscription allows you to submit E-bids, plus the benefits from the email subscription, with the exception of email notifications.
