The Ministry of Minority Affairs – अल्पसंख्यक कार्य मंत्रालय
This Ministry of Minority Affairs is comparatively a new branch of the Indian Government. This Ministry came into existence in the year 2006 to highlight the problems of the minor communities and solve their problems. The minor communities in India include Muslim, Buddhist, Parsis, Christian, Sikhs, and Jain. The ministry looks after the different policies and organizes different development programmes through which the minor communities can get some benefits. The name of the minister of this ministry is Shri Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
This ministry also deals with the issues of the linguistic minorities. As a part of the Ministry of External Affairs, this ministry gives the total protection to the Muslims here in India and also looks after the group of non-Muslims in Pakistan.

This ministry also thinks about the future generation of our country. Ministry of Minority Affairs gives minority scholarship to the bright students from the minority community to secure their future. The name of the scholarship is Moma Scholarship. This unique scheme aims to provide the financial security to the students of the minority communities who want to do the higher study but unable to do so because of lack of money. This scholarship is for the undergraduate and also for the postgraduate courses.
Schemes, Programmes, and Missions
- Nai Udaan – Scheme for financial support to the minority candidates clearing prelims conducted by State PSC, UPSC, and SSC.
Other than these this scheme also provides pre-matric scholarship and post-matric scholarship to encourage the young generation to be independent and educated. All the information related to the scholarship schemes are there in the national scholarship Portal. There are some eligibility criteria too to get the scholarship.

Ministry of Minority Affairs has introduced many schemes to provide benefits to the people of minority communities. Some of the schemes are Nai Roshni scheme, Nai Manzil scheme, Learn and Earn scheme and also the Jiyo Parsi scheme. All these schemes are genuinely beneficial. The government has taken these excellent initiatives for the betterment of people.
