History of the formation of the Public Service Commission of Kerala
When Travancore and Cochin merged, it resulted in the creation of a new state, the Travancore-Cochin state. With this, the government established the Travancore-Cochin Public Service Commission according to the provisions of the 1935 Government of India Act.
Kerala became a state on 1st November, in the year 1956. It consisted of Travancore-Cochin (except Shencottah Taluk and also the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu), the Kasargod Taluk and the Malabar District. With this, the Travancore-Cochin Public Service Commission became KPSC Kerala. Moreover, at present, the total number of members of the Commission is 18.
