In this area, the first tiger had caught by Maharaj Martand Singh in 1951. This white tiger named Mohan now decorated in the palace of Maharaja of Rewa. It is believed that all the tigers present in this sanctuary are descendants of Charger and Sita. Their only children Mohini, Languru and, Bittu were fond of going to the tourist cars. Later, due to the wounds received from one of these cars, Mohini was killed. After the charger, Bittu had a reign over this sanctuary, and not only this sanctuary but also the most powerful tiger in the whole world. Bittu died in 2011. Today, his son Bameda is the strongest male in this sanctuary.bandhavgarh tiger reserve

Bandhavgarh Sanctuary is about 237 kilometers from Khajuraho and 195 kilometers from Jabalpur. Earlier, the forest spread around Bandhavgarh maintained as the hunting ground of Rewa’s Maharaja.

Apart from the tiger, many mammals also found. Chital, sambhar, deer, wild dogs, leopards, wolf, jackal, carcass, wild boar, langur, and monkey can be easily seen here. There plenty of snakes like King Cobra, Crete, and Viper in reptiles. About 250 species of birds found here. These include parrot, peacock, heron, crow, hornbill, quail, owl etc.

Whenever you go here, you will be seen easily as mammals, reptiles, and various birds because water and diet are abundant in here.

If you are going to see a tiger in Bandhavgarh then go between October and June. If you going to see sloth beer, then the month of March-May appropriate because, in the meantime, they come out to eat the name Mahua, which used by native residents to create native liquor. Birds fond of seeing, the month of November to March is the most correct.

Jungle safari is the well-known attraction of any wildlife tour of India. There is an availability of jungle safaris in Bandhavgarh national park. Two rounds of safari drivers in a day allowed inside the core-zone of a park. Park remains closed for evening safari drives on every Wednesday. There are three safari zones here i.e. Tala zone (Gate-1), Magadhi Zone(Gate-2) and Khitauli zone (Gate-3). Tourists required to get entrance tickets in which all visitors name, age, gender, country and identity document details given. Visitors need to carry their original identity document during safari drives. The tickets non-transferable. Guide service compulsory on each safari vehicle during safari drive. Maximum 6 persons permitted to sit in a safari jeep and, whereas 12 tourists allowed in a safari canter vehicle.

It is advisable to carry the following items with you to boost Safari experience:

Sunglasses, Water bottles and, Hat or cap.

A Camera is essential to capture best images of wildlife in Bandhavgarh National Park. Avoid wearing shiny clothes and wear clothes which match to the surroundings

Keep binoculars with you. During park-safari, you have to keep a distance from the animal. Forest offers enormous images to capture.

To reach here via air route, first reach Khajuraho (distance: 237 km) or Jabalpur (distance 195 km).

There are railway stations in Jabalpur (195 km), Katni (100 km), Satna (120 km) and Umaria (33 km) at the South Eastern Railway route to reach here via rail route.

From Jabalpur, Katni, and Umaria, you can reach Bandhavgarh National Park by Taxi.
