In India, you can find 24 High Courts at Union Territories of India and States of India level. The Supreme Court of India is the National Level court. Each and every high court has Jurisdiction over a Union Territory /state (or) Group of States/Union Territories. For every High Court has subordinate courts like Family Courts, Civil Courts, and District Courts. The High Court is the highest court in the state level of India. For each state, the Union Territory has High Courts. Supreme Court can act as a single High Courts for two or more States. The High Courts have been set up under Chapter VII, Chapter 5, 214 of the Indian Constitution.

High Court Judges are appointed by the President of India, on the advice of the Chief Justice of India and the Governor of the State.
